开头和结尾是在点题了，为了母亲的幸福可以做任何事情，让母亲（darling）远离“邪恶”（power of dog）。影片的背景竟然是西部牛仔片，壮丽的风景配合暧昧的同性情愫，让人不禁想到《断臂山》，但是唯美孱弱的少年背后藏着的似乎也是“power of dog”，逆耳的反和弦音乐也暗示了这一点，这并不是传统意义的同性电影。影片用中国老话改编一下便是：“小人报仇十年不晚”。个人认为美中不足的地方有几处：Phil对待Peter的态度转变太快，动机不够。Phil不够邪恶，甚至太过有魅力，死的时候让人惋惜。Rose临时起意，送印第安人牛皮，以至Phil对弟弟投诉Rose，使Peter下定决心，简单随意了点。
